Famous rocker Janis Joplin’s biopic has finally found its star.
Joeblo.com reports that “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” actress Zooey Deschanel has taken over for pop singer Pink in Penelope Spheeris’ “The Gospel According to Janis,” which is set to begin filming this November in Philadelphia.
In order to reproduce Joplin’s gritty blues-styled vocals, Deschanel has reportedly been working with a vocal coach for over four months.
The actress, who is actually a singer herself, will sing all of Joplin’s songs for the movie.
The flick will follow a Rolling Stone’s reporter shadow the singer while on a U.S. tour.
The film will premiere before a rival biopic, whose star, Renee Zellweger, has been trying to get off the ground, and will continue to push for.
